Pastor Rex

When the church was in need of a new pastor, the search committee pursued a Pastor who embraces the church’s tenants of faith but approaches Christianity with a very contemporary style. The United Church of Christ is known for its welcoming beliefs and for supporting inclusivity and justice for all people. Pastor Rex Brown continues that tradition and brings his own unique twist to the church’s modern and energizing services.
Pastor Rex comes to Christ Church with over twenty years of ministry experience of working with older congregations in California and Ohio and transforming them into healthy church communities that supported their congregations strong mission statements. Christ Church has made a very conscientious decision to reach out to the un-churched households in the Locust Point Community and to particularly welcome the new people moving into our communities through the recent housing boom. The services are geared for the growth and stability of the members who have attended for years, while also placing a special emphasis on welcoming new people who may have had a church background, or those who have never walked into a church in their life.
Pastor Rex has worked as a Children’s Pastor, a Youth Pastor, as a Senior Pastor, and has also worked in the corporate world for Hewlett-Packard. He has also taught history and physical education as a middle school teacher. He has lived in Ohio, Kentucky, Florida, California, Colorado and now in Locust Point. Pastor Rex knows
what it is like to be the new person at work, at school, in the neighborhood, and in church.
