The Complex And Precise Work Of Agricultural Grain Dryers In Oregon

byadmin

To feed livestock throughout the cold winter months, owners of these animals must have access to large amounts of dry food like hay and pellets. Grain Dryers in Oregon can be integral in the process of feeding animals when farmers do not have their own silos or grain elevators. The owner of one or two horses can get through the winter by buying or bartering for hay from local farmers and by picking up oats from the feed store. But, larger enterprises require a substantial amount of food.

Grain Storage

Many farmers have a feeding system in which they grow a large acreage of field corn, allow it to dry after maturity, and then harvest it and store it right there on the farm. Others must buy their feed from a local enterprise. The sight of huge grain elevators is common throughout the country on the edges of its agricultural centers. Those elevators not only store feed for animals but also seed for the next season’s crop planting.

Complex and Precise Processes

Drying wheat and other foods in Grain Dryers in Oregon is a complex process that is intended to be as precise as possible. Operators of this equipment understand the temperatures at which various grains dry most effectively without reducing their nutrient content.

Optimal air flow is important, so every single grain dries uniformly. The most important effort is to eliminate moisture, which is a significant risk factor for mold and fungal growth. Spoilage of a batch of grain would be a major hit to the financial plan.

Investing in the Equipment

Sometimes, a farmer who doesn’t have any drying or storage equipment decides it’s time to invest in this agricultural infrastructure. A large amount of money is required the upfront, but it can pay off relatively quickly. This businessperson not only reduces the costs of feeding animals on site but can sell feed to other owners of livestock. Maximum profits are achieved, and so is convenience for the workers and the quality of the food. Anyone who is thinking about buying some of this equipment may Visit Leon James Construction Company online today.

Market maker Bernard L. Madoff arrested in $50B ‘giant Ponzi scheme’

Correction — January 10, 2009 This article incorrectly states that Mr Madoff attended Hofstra University Law School. His education was actually with Hofstra College, which he graduated from in 1960.

Friday, December 12, 2008

Top broker and Wall Street adviser Bernard L. Madoff, aged 70, was arrested and charged by the FBI on Thursday with a single count of securities fraud, also known as stock fraud and investment fraud. He allegedly told senior employees of his firm on Wednesday that his $50 billion business “is all just one big lie” and that it was “basically, a giant Ponzi scheme (since at least 2005).” Mr. Madoff faces up to 20 years imprisonment and a fine of up to $5 million. FBI agent Theodore Cacioppi said Mr. Madoff’s investment advisory business had “deceived investors by operating a securities business in which he traded and lost investor money, and then paid certain investors purported returns on investment with the principal received from other, different investors, which resulted in investors’ losses of approximately $50 billion dollars.”

The former chairman of the Nasdaq Stock Market is also the founder and primary owner of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC, the closely-held market-making firm he launched in 1960. The firm is one of the top market maker firms on Wall Street. He founded his family firm with an initial investment of $5,000, after attending Hofstra University Law School. He saved the money earned from a job lifeguarding at Rockaway Beach in Queens and a part time job installing underground sprinkler systems.

A force in Wall Street trading for nearly 50 years, he has been active in the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD), a self-regulatory organization for the U.S. securities industry. His firm was one of the five most active firms in the development of the NASDAQ, having been known for “paying for order flow,” in other word paying a broker to execute a customer’s order through Madoff. He argued that the payment to the broker did not alter the price that the customer received. He ran the investment advisory as a secretive business, however.

Dan Horwitz, counsel of Mr. Madoff, in an interview, said that “he is a longstanding leader in the financial-services industry with an unblemished record; he is a person of integrity; he intends to fight to get through this unfortunate event.” Mr. Madoff was released on his own recognizance on the same day of his arrest, after his 2 sons turned him in, and posting $10 million bail secured by his Manhattan apartment. Without entering any plea, the Court set the preliminary hearing for January 12.

Madoff’s hedge fund scheme may rank among the biggest fraud in history. When former energy trading giant Enron filed for bankruptcy in 2001, one of the largest at the time, it had $63.4 billion in assets. The scheme would dwarf past Ponzis, and it would further be nearly five times the telecommunication company WorldCom fraud and bankruptcy proceedings in 2002.

The Securities and Exchange Commission filed a separate civil suit on Thursday against Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities and its eponymous founder Mr. Madoff. It was docketed as “U.S. v. Madoff,” 08-MAG-02735, by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York (Manhattan). SEC, New York associate director of enforcement, Andrew M. Calamari, asked the judge to issue seizure orders on the firm and its assets, and appoint a receiver. The SEC pleads, among others, that “it was an ongoing $50 billion swindle; our complaint alleges a stunning fraud that appears to be of epic proportions.” It further accused the defendant of “paying returns to certain investors out of the principal received from other, different investors” for years. Madoff’s hedge fund business had previously claimed to have served between 11 and 25 clients and had $17.1 billion in assets under management. But virtually all of the assets were missing.

United States District Court for the Southern District of New York Louis L. Stanton on Thursday appointed Lee Richards, a Manhattan lawyer, as the firm’s receiver. A hearing is set for Friday, for a ruling on the SEC’s petition to grant plenary powers to the receiver over the entire firm, and an absolute asset sequestration.

Doug Kass, president of hedge fund Seabreeze Partners Management said that “this is a major blow to confidence that is already shattered — anyone on the fence will probably try to take their money out.”

Wikinews interviews U.S. Libertarian presidential candidate Wayne Allyn Root

Wednesday, February 6, 2008

Wikinews held an exclusive interview with Wayne Allyn Root, one of the candidates for the Libertarian Party nomination for the 2008 U.S. presidential election.

Root is the founder and chairman of Winning Edge International Inc., a sports handicapping company based in Las Vegas, Nevada. In addition, he is an author and a television producer, as well as an on-screen personality both as host and guest on several talk shows.

Root, a long-time Republican, declared his candidacy for the Libertarian Party on May 4, 2007.

He says he is concerned about the qualities of many who run for president, and fears that they do not know the needs of American citizens. He also says that they cater to big businesses instead of small ones.

He has goals of limiting the federal government and believes that the US went into Iraq for wrong reasons. A strong supporter of the War on Terror, he feels that it was mishandled. He has conservative values and came from a blue collar family in New York. He graduated from Columbia University with fellow presidential hopeful Barack Obama in 1983.

Root believes that America is in trouble and hopes to change that if elected.

Two killed in landslide in Tenerife

Sunday, November 1, 2009

At least two people have been killed in a landslide at the Playa de los Gigantes beach on the Spanish island of Tenerife. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has confirmed the information today.

The victims were both women. One of them was identified as a 34-year-old woman from the southern part of the island. The other was identified as Marion Auril O’Hara, a 57-year-old woman from the United Kingdom. The collapsing of the cliff, which was on a small beach and stretched 130 feet (40 metres), occurred at around 1600 GMT on Sunday.

Initially, it was believed that there were six people trapped underneath the cliff. 150 rescue workers dug with picks and shovels, and continued digging for over four hours. However, the search was later scaled down, with the Senior Civil Guard Officer saying that “we now believe that these two women were the only victims.”

Howard Williams, who was on holiday from the United Kingdom in the area, told Sky News Online that “police were aware the cliff was dangerous for days, but the only thing they put in place was a bit of builder’s tape.”

Thousands gather in London to protest against government cuts

Monday, March 28, 2011

File:2011 UK protests.jpg

Hundreds of thousands of people joined marches in London on Saturday against public sector cuts by the British government. One union estimated up to half a million people travelled from across the country to demonstrate as the Conservative–Liberal Democrat coalition implements wide-ranging spending cuts.

According to reports, a small group of protesters dressed in black threw paint and smoke bombs at the Oxford Street branch of Topshop, and demonstrators in Piccadilly threw smoke bombs at the Ritz Hotel. The protests have targeted the government and a number of retail outlets, following on from the UK Uncut campaign which has demonstrated outside retailers including Vodafone and Topshop to raise awareness of alleged tax system abuses by the businesses.

The violence came to a head on Sunday as police stormed Trafalgar Square and the protesters ran, throwing bricks and bottles at riot officers. “I have never seen such a fast escalation of violence in my life,” one witness to the violence in the square said. “Everything just kicked off, glass everywhere, police hitting people, people being dragged across the floor. I just can’t believe it.” Clashes in the square finally ended in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The protesters grabbed metal barriers and hurled them over police lines, using them as battering rams.

Senior members of the TUC, the federation of 88 of the country’s unions, were quick to dissociate the disruptive actions of the “few hundred” with those of the earlier peaceful protest, claiming that the violence of a minority should not detract from the message behind the main march.

The Labour Party leader, Ed Miliband, addressed hundreds of thousands of peaceful marchers assembled in Hyde Park, and attacked the planned spending cuts. “Our struggle is to fight to preserve, protect and defend the best of the services we cherish because they represent the best of the country we love,” he said.

The Metropolitan Police said approximately 4,500 officers were policing the event, and 214 demonstrators were detained. On Twitter, the force reported two significant incidents of violence and that four police officers have been injured; one is being treated in hospital. They also said protesters had thrown light bulbs filled with ammonia at officers on Oxford Street.

Small protests have been ongoing in the U.K. since early this month, mainly in the northern city of Sheffield. In the biggest of these, 5,000 people attended a protest march on March 12 in Sheffield, with demonstrators marching from Devonshire Green, an open space in the city centre, to the venue of the Liberal Democrat spring conference. Barricades were set up after “violent incidents”, though only one arrest was made.

How Your Dentist Can Make You Smile}

How Your Dentist Can Make You Smile

Jordan Rocksmith

Your dentist in Winchester, VA, can actually make you smile in a variety of ways. In order to do that, he or she doesn’t even have to tell you a good joke (although that doesn’t hurt, either). Instead, your dentist has a few other tricks up his or her sleeve that can improve the appearance of your teeth. Unfortunately, people who feel self-conscious about their teeth don’t smile as often as they would otherwise. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Take Away Your PainIf you have a toothache or sensitive gums, then you probably have very little to smile about. In fact, having a toothache is one of the worst types of pain because it never goes away by itself. Fortunately, your dentist can make you smile again by removing the cause of your toothache. Whether it’s a deep cavity or an infection, your dentist will take care of the problem so that you don’t have to suffer anymore.Straighten Your TeethCrooked or crowded teeth are not as attractive as straight teeth. Slight imperfections are usually not a problem, but many people do not have naturally straight teeth. Your teeth may also be crowded in your mouth, which will require retainers, braces, or Invisalign.Getting your teeth straightened out requires a serious investment of both time and money. Fortunately, with Invisalign, it doesn’t take as long as it used to. And on the bright side, nobody will even know what you’re up to unless you tell them. The only thing your coworkers will notice is the fact that your teeth are looking better than ever.Fill in the GapsIf you have one or more missing teeth, then you’re probably not happy with your smile. While some people don’t seem to mind living with a hole in their mouth, it’s far from the ideal choice. The great thing is that your dentist can literally fill in the gap or gaps for you. Previously, your only option was to have your dentist build a bridge using the two neighboring teeth as anchors.Nowadays, experienced cosmetic dentists prefer to use implants. Implants can last for the rest of your life if you take good care of them. An implant is the best way to replace a missing tooth because it prevents bone deterioration and bone loss. Since it is directly implanted into your jawbone, nobody will even notice that the new tooth is not your real tooth.Brighten Your SmileTeeth whitening is probably one of the most popular dental procedures. Not only does this procedure offer almost instantaneous results, but it’s also completely pain free. Stained or discolored teeth are not really a big deal if you think about it objectively. But since it’s so easy to brighten up your smile, why shouldn’t you do it? The difference can be huge. Most dentists offer this procedure directly in the dental office, but you may also be able to do this at home. It’s a good idea to talk to your dentist before attempting to whiten your teeth on your own to ensure that you’re using the proper concentration.Cover Your TeethIn some cases, dental patients decide to cover up their existing teeth instead of undergoing extensive procedures. If your front teeth are chipped, slightly crooked, or have spaces in between, then you might be a good candidate for veneers. Yourdentist in Winchester, VA, is almost like a magician when it comes to transforming your smile. Veneers can make a huge difference for you. One thing is certain: seeing the results of cosmetic dentistry will definitely make you smile.Gerald J BrownDDS. in Winchester, VA, promotes perfect smiles that last a lifetime. Ozzy Osbourne’s personal possessions fetch $800,000 for charity

Sunday, December 2, 2007

American heavy metal performer Ozzy Osbourne, who became famous as the lead vocalist for Black Sabbath and later as a solo act, has raised more than US$800,000 for The Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program, founded by his spouse Sharon Osbourne at the Cedars Sinai Hospital, by auctioning off personal items.

A number of the items that he auctioned off over the two day period have been seen on his reality TV show The Osbournes, which featured home life with Sharon, Ozzy and their two children. Amongst some of the higher-priced items were a carved walnut Victorian-style custom built pool table which raised $11,250, a painting from Edourad Drouot which fetched $10,500, a pair of Ozzy’s famous round glasses which raised $5,250 and a dog bed given to Sharon by Elton John which sold for $2,375.

Some more famous items were also amongst the 500 lots offered. Ozzy’s black satin coat, complete with bat-wing cape, raised $3,300 and a hand-painted floral cup used regularly on The Osbournes made $1,625. A bronze plaque of a demon’s head that was regularly seen in its position adorning the front door of their house had been expected to go for $800 to $1,200instead raised $8,750. A wire model of the Eiffel Tower from on the kitchen table sold for $10,000, while skull-covered trainers Ozzy had worn reached $2,625. Bidders came from as far away as Germany to buy what they could from his mansion in Beverly Hills, California.

However, three cars included in the auction failed to attract bidders and did not sell. They were a 2006 Bentley Continental Flying Spur, estimated at $160,000 to $180,000, a 2005 Cadillac CTS-V sedan estimated at $30,000 to $40,000 and a 1950 Oldsmobile Futuramic 88 Club Coupe previously owned by author Danielle Steel estimated at $40,000 to $50,000. Sharon had earlier said of the cars “We’re not great car people. They really don’t do a lot for us.

Darren Julien, president of Julien’s Auctions, which organised the two-day sale, said “It did very well. It raised some good money for a very worthy cause.”

“For a celebrity garage sale, it was pretty spectacular.,” he went on. He also commented on the fact that there was fierce competition for the many artworks included. “We had Ozzy fans bidding against these sophisticated fine art buyers, which you don’t see every day. For the most part the metalheads were outbidding the art crowd.”

NHL: Penguins to remain in Pittsburgh

Tuesday, March 13, 2007

Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell announced Tuesday morning that a deal had been struck between state and local officials and the Pittsburgh Penguins hockey franchise. The Penguins organization will formally announce the deal tonight, prior to the Penguins game against the Buffalo Sabres at the Mellon Arena. The deal will ensure that the Penguins will remain in the city with a 30 year lease on a new arena to be built in downtown Pittsburgh. The framework of the deal was constructed in an emergency meeting last Thursday in Philadelphia, when both government and franchise officials indicated that progress had been made, with the details laid out over the weekend. With the new deal, the Penguins organization would be expected to pay $3.8 million per year, as well as $7.5 million per year from both Don Barden, owner of Majestic Star Casino, and the state economic development fund. The Penguins organization has also been given the option of building a parking garage on property of the Pittsburgh Sports Authority between Centre and Fifth avenues, by contributing $500,000 per year.

The new arena is expected to cost approximately $290 million, and should be completed and ready to host hockey games by 2009. The Penguins will sign a temporary lease to keep the team at Mellon Arena until the new building is finished.
